The School of Rock

TrainR
We've created an environment where kids learn climbing. the
concept of TrainR is to take a really exciting climb and lay
it on its side. No ropes. No supervision. The TrainR
climbing system is designed for low traverses that provide
all the challenges and thrills of bouldering. But because
the climbers are just a couple of feet off the ground, there
is much less risk. the many varied routes provide
opportunities for success for climbers of all abilities. By
selecting which part of the TrainR and which holds to use,
climbers can discover routes as easy or as difficult as they
want.

CONFIGURATIONS
TrainR is a modular system with five different components.
These can be arranged to fit almost any space or budget.
Here are some of the most popular configurations. Want to
see a virtual 3D TrainR model?
so you can see it from any angle.
for additional documentation and drawings.

BEND
The Bend is a curved section with a top that gently slopes
from 9' to just over 4'. the convex side is designed to
teach climbers to hug the surface and reach for stabilizing
holds. the concave side teaches an out-reach position
requiring strength and balance to move from hold to hold.
this is a great section for learning one's center of
gravity. The Bend is used as the end of several systems of
as a stand-alone unit.

ARM BUILDER
The Arm Builder is an accessory to the Wall and replicates
the "hang boards" every serious climber uses to develop
upper arm and grip strength. It's similar to a chinning bar
but instead of a traditional pipe, it has grips that are
both difficult and easy. If kids use it only a few minutes a
day they will quickly build strength.
TrainR WALL
the Wall section is the basic building block for the TrainR
system. this is where new climbers start out and learn the
basics. Instead of just a flat surface, it has gently curved
faces providing a multitude of different climbing challenges
as skill and confidence increase. Where space allows, the
Wall should be a part of every TrainR installation.
TrainR
CHIMNEY
The Chimney section is like the inside of a tall tube with
one side cut away. This allows a climber to "stem" by
applying force to opposing walls to climb up and down. On
the outside of the Chimney there is a wide flat wall that
has a unique set of holds that are particularly challenging.
TrainR
OVERHANG
This is the most challenging of the TrainR components. the
underside teaches climbers how to climb upside down while
keeping their hands and feet on the holds. This activity
will very quickly create awareness of the climber's
strength-to-weight ratio. Like the Bend, the Overhang is
used as an easy exit on the end of a system.
